Pompano Beach, FL– As the playoff approaches, some of the traditional state championship teams are preparing for the push into the playoffs and trips to the State Championship semifinals and final games in Lakeland. Teams from across the state have completed district play and one-round of playoff contention and the playoffs are now heating up.
7A- Region 4
The overwhelming favorite and No. 1 in the country, Columbus hosts an offensive-minded Western team in the regional semis, while Blueblood Miami High tries to get past Coral Springs. Columbus is likely to make it out but Springs will have a say in the affair before it’s all said and done.
Others to watch in the classification include: Winter Haven (Top seed in region 3) Seminole (2 seed in Region 1) and Oakridge (Top seed in Region 2).

6A
Keep an eye on Wiregrass Ranch, who put up nearly 8o points in their reginoal opener downing Milton. State Championships are won by defensive play, however, so there’s a lot to be said about Pines Charter in region 4 and Ovideo in region 2. This classification appears to be wide open as there’s not overarching favorite.
